Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable IP Specialist to manage and protect the organization’s intellectual property assets. The ideal candidate will support patent, trademark, copyright, and trade secret management processes, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations. This role requires close collaboration with R&D, legal teams, marketing, and external IP counsel.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct prior art searches, patentability assessments, and freedom-to-operate (FTO) analyses.
  • Prepare, file, and maintain patents, trademarks, and copyrights (national and international).
  • Coordinate with inventors, engineers, and product teams to identify and document IP assets.
  • Manage IP portfolios and maintain accurate IP databases and docketing systems.
  • Liaise with external legal counsel and patent offices on prosecution and litigation matters.
  • Monitor competitor IP activities and provide insights to R&D and strategy teams.
  • Assist in licensing, technology transfer, and IP due diligence for M&A activities.
  • Ensure proper use of trademarks and copyrights across branding and marketing materials.
  • Educate internal teams about IP processes, policies, and best practices.
  • Handle renewals, annuities, oppositions, and IP enforcement activities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law, Engineering, Life Sciences, or a related field.
  • Advanced degree or certifications in IP Law (e.g., Registered Patent Agent, CLP) is preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in IP management, patent law, or a related legal/technical field.
  • Strong understanding of global IP laws, especially in [jurisdictions like USPTO, EPO, WIPO, etc.].
  • Proficiency in IP management tools and databases (e.g., Anaqua, CPA Global, Thomson IP Manager).
  • Excellent research, analytical, and drafting skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and project management abilities.
  • Ability to handle confidential information and work under deadlines.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience working in tech, biotech, pharma, or manufacturing industries.
  • Familiarity with open-source licensing and software IP.
  • Multilingual capabilities for dealing with international filings.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
